Merrow Overlock and Shell Stitch Machine Repair

Merrow machines do work nothing else does, from butt seaming on blankets to the shell and purl edges used on knitwear and medical goods. They are mechanical, they are rebuildable, and they need oil more than they need anything else. We are an independent repair shop with no dealer or factory relationship with Merrow.

Common problems with these machines

  • Looper timing and crank wear on 70 Class butt seamers
  • Knife and knife holder wear that leaves a ragged edge
  • Shell stitch and purl edge problems on MG Class machines
  • Dry cranks and bearings on machines that were run without oil
  • Stitch finger and throat plate wear that changes the edge width
  • Belt, pulley and clutch motor problems at the stand

Models we see often

  • 70 Class
  • MG Class
  • A Class
  • M Class
  • Active Seam

Merrow parts are still available for the main classes, and we also keep used parts because these machines stay in service for decades. Cranks, loopers, knives and stitch fingers are the parts that wear and the ones we look at first.

We are an independent repair shop. We do not represent any manufacturer and we have no affiliation with the companies that make these machines. Brand names appear only to describe the machines we service, and each name belongs to its owner.
